Benefit for Eddie Morrison – Donations Needed

Eddie Morrison, a classmate of mine, was making deliveries for his small business when he was in a serious car accident. Eddie survived the accident but has suffered extensive injuries.  His insurance covers damages caused to the other cars involved, but does not cover him. The insurance company says that since he was working at the time of the accident that his insurance does not cover him. He was advised to start applying for charitable assistance for his medical bills and such. Some of Eddie’s friends and like-minded individuals are planning a benefit party to raise funds for helping to cover some of his medical costs. If any of our fans have goods or services they would willing to donate please contact Darin at Boccata, 360 736-2404. Anything you have to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Jazz Piano Returns!

tristian head shot

Jazz piano with Tristian Gallegos returns this Friday night September 6th. Tristian has been treating the Boccata customers to great jazz sounds for 3 years now. He is a local student who loves music and has learned to play completely by ear. Tristian has an extensive repertoire of new and old jazz favorites. With his conga drum in tow he often treats us to some of the Cuban jazz rhythms that are his truest passion.  He plays the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month starting at 6:30. Make a plan to check this out soon! This is a popular dining time here at Boccata so gives us a call and get your reservation in. 360 736-2404

October Oysterfest in Shelton!

October Oysterfest in Shelton!

This year’s Oysterfest in Shelton with be the 32nd year for the event which has become one of the biggest and best food fesitvals in the state. Chef Darin will be again judging for the cooking contest taking place both Saturday and Sunday. The contest involves many professional, non-professional, and student chefs from the surrounding counties. Three categories of recipes are represented, soups/stews, appetizers and main courses. To be considered as a contestant for the cooking contest you must have recipes submitted by September 15th. Or, maybe you fancy yourself a oyster shucking speedster. You can enter a contest for that too!

In addition to the competitions there are over 40 non-profit organizations hosting food booths serving a wide variety of local seafood menu items. There is a beer and wine garden serving up an extensive list of local beverages next to the live music stage.

Table to Farm Dinners

Table to Farm Dinners

Check out the Table to Farm Dinners series going on this summer at Newaukum Valley Farm. There are a few more scheduled for the summer and I am working on trying to do at least one more myself. This is a great opportunity to meet some of the local food growers and producers. Great food and beverages, good conversation and tour of the farm. Click on the title of this post to learn more.
